Flesh & Bone by Jonathan Maberry

Flesh & Bone by Jonathan Maberry

About the book

" Reeling from the devastation of Dust & Decay, Benny Imura and his friends plunge deep into the zombie-infested wastelands of the great Rot & Ruin. Benny, Nix, Lilah, and Chong journey through a fierce wilderness that was once America, searching for the jet they saw in the skies months ago. If that jet exists then humanity itself must have survived…somewhere. Finding it is their best hope for having a future and a life worth living.

But the Ruin is far more dangerous than any of them can imagine. Fierce animals hunt them. They come face to face with a death cult. And then there’s the zombies—swarms of them coming from the east, devouring everything in their paths. And these zoms are different. Faster, smarter, and infinitely more dangerous. Has the zombie plague mutated, or is there something far more sinister behind this new invasion of the living dead?

One thing Benny and his companions can’t afford to forget: In the great Rot & Ruin, everything wants to kill you. "

My thoughts on the book

I think this is a really good book. It is the third in the rot and ruin series. To go on Benny, Nix, Lilah and Chong's journey into the zombie world and to read what all they go thru it does make you think of the things you go thru on a daily basis and it makes you thank God that nothing has like this book has happened and Pray that it never does. But every one does go thru things on a daily basis some is good and some is bad. It is how we come out of it in the end. We should never let bad things pull us down in the abyss of hardship. We need to stand tall and be strong. Yes I got that from this book. I know everyone else who will read this book may not get that but I do. I really do think it is a good book to read for every age.

You will not be disappointed with this book or with the series. Now on to the next book in the series.

Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry

Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry

About the book

"In the zombie-infested, post-apocalyptic America where Benny Imura lives, every teenager must find a job by the time they turn fifteen or get their rations cut in half. Benny doesn't want to apprentice as a zombie hunter with his boring older brother Tom, but he has no choice. He expects a tedious job whacking zoms for cash, but what he gets is a vocation that will teach him what it means to be human. As his worldview is challenged again and again by the lessons he learns from Tom, Benny is forced to confront another horrifying reality: Sometimes the most terrible monsters are human. "

My thoughts on the book

This is a really good book. The things that Benny and his friends and family goes thru is sad and they learn so much. If you really think about it in some ways we all go thru hardships and it just show that no matter the time or place bad things can happen. It is kind of like a good lesson to learn. Yes I know it is a fiction book but if you think about things happen everyday and I think some authors brings that into their writing and it makes it a good book.

Darkest Hour by V.C. Andrews

About the book

"
Growing up on the thriving plantation called The Meadows, Lillian Booth cherishes the brightest, happiest dreams....

Lillian's world is full of grand parties, of sunshine and promises, as thrilling as the fairy tales Mama spins for her and her little sister, Eugenia. No one, not even her cold, stern Papa and her Bible spouting sister Emily, can crush her spirits -- until the day Emily reveals the shattering secret at Lillian's birth, a secret Mama sadly cannot deny. Still Lillian refuses to believe Emily's hateful claim that she is evil, a curse...even when sweet, gentle Eugenia loses her fragile hold on life, and Mama retreats further into her fantasies. But when tragedy befalls her best friend, the one boy whose tender heart mirrors her own, Lillian comes to believe Emily's grim words. Meekly, she endures her penance, finding a strange solace in the endless repetition of prayers in a room stripped of all comforts. Lillian's heart is torn anew when, in a drunken haze, Papa subjects her to the most brutal degradation. Then Papa loses The Meadows in a card game, and Lillian is faced with a new and terrifying prospect. Arrogant, handsome playboy Bill Cutler will return the plantation -- if Lillian will marry him! Now Lillian must leave her girlhood home behind, and make a bold new beginning as the mistress of a hotel called Cutler's Cove..."

My thoughts about the book

I love how V.C. Andrews uses the last book to explain who Lillian was and what here story was all about. I was wondering why the old lady turned into a evil woman when everyone kept telling Dawn she was a nice lady back in the day. Her sister dies she learns some things and she gets raped and wands up pregnant and is made to stay hidden while pregnant. Her mother dies. Who dad basically gamble her away. So yeah This was a very good book.

Now as black storms of evil gather around her, Christie must struggle to break the cruel bonds of the past...to defy the curse that has haunted Cutler's Cove for generations...."

My thoughts on the book

This book is not as good as the others in the series. Dont get me wrong it is still a good book but not like the others in the series. In this book it is about Dawn's daughter Christie but Christie doesnt go thru all the hardships that Dawn went thru. Yes she goes thru some but it just wasnt like Dawn's but then again it is about different people and no one goes thru the same thing.  I love how they bring Charlotte back in to the story. I think she was my favorite character out of all the series.

My thoughts about the book.

Just like the other books in the series this is a really good book. There are sad moments in the book and happy moments. I like just when you think nothing else could go wrong it does. I also liked how it ends with Dawn and Jimmy finding out that they are having a baby.  Now on to the next book in the series. Hopefully I will have it read soon. I will say it again I love V.C. Andrews books.

Happy Reading.

Dazed by his cruelty, alone with the bitter fruit of his betrayal, Dawn becomes, once again, a victim of her grandmothers twisted schemes. Desolate, she clings to the tender hope that Jimmy will return and renew with her their deepest hearts' dream..."

My thoughts about the book.

This book is the second book in the Cutler series by V.C Andrews and it is a really good book. I really do love V.C. Andrews books as they draw you in the book. In this book it shows more evil that Dawn has to go thru. From being used and coming up pregnant , to a old evil lady on a farm who she told was a great aunt but it turns out that she wasnt. To have her daughter placed to in another home as soon as she born without her say so. To finding out who her real father is. It is just a really good book I just started the third book in the series I probably will have it read tomorrow evening sometime. I just hope it is as good as the others.

Her sweet innocence lost, humiliated and scorned, Dawn is desperate to find Jimmy again and...strip away the wicked lies that will change all their lives forever! "

My thoughts about the book.

It is a pretty good book. but then again all of V. C. Andrews books are good books. She keeps you drawn into the book almost to the point of where you are reading it all about your self. In this book the main character Dawn  learns that what she has thought was her life was all a lie. I love that Dawn learns to have a backbone and doesnt let anyone control her life. It is just sad what all she has to go thru all at a young age.  Looking forward to the next book in the Cutler series by V.C. Andrews.

Happy reading.

Awakened by P.C Cast + Kristin Cast

Awakened by P.C. Cast + Kristin Cast

About the book

"
“My love, speak to me.  Tell me everything.”  Neferet went to Kalona, kneeling before him, stroking the soft, dark wings that unfurled loosely around the immortal.
“What would you have me say?”  He didn’t meet her eyes.
“Zoey lives.” Neferet’s voice was flat, cold, lifeless.
“She does.”
“Then you owe me the subservience of your immortal soul.”  She started to walk away from him.
“Where are you going?  What will happen next?”
“It is quite simple.  I will ensure Zoey is drawn back to Oklahoma.  There, on my own terms, I will complete the task you failed.”
Exonerated by the Vampyre High Council and returned to her position of High Priestess at Tulsa’s House of Night, Neferet has sworn vengeance on Zoey.  Dominion over Kalona is only one of the weapons she plans to use against Z.  But Zoey has found sanctuary on the Isle of Skye and is being groomed by Queen Sgiach to take over for her there.  Being Queen would be cool, wouldn’t it?  Why should she return to Tulsa? After losing her human consort, Heath, she will never be the same – and her relationship with her super-hot-warrior, Stark, may never be the same either…
And what about Stevie Rae and Rephaim?  The Raven Mocker refuses to be used against Stevie Rae, but what choice does he have when no one in the entire world, including Zoey, would be okay with their relationship?  Does he betray his father or his heart?
In the pulse-pounding 8th book in the bestselling House of Night series, how far will the bonds of friendship stretch and how strong are the ties that bind one girl’s heart? "

My thoughts about the book

This is a pretty good book. I dont know why I had stopped reading it back in March. I guess between my health and vacation I just didnt have the time to. But I am glad that I picked it up this morning and finished reading it. I can not wait to read the next one. I was beginning to wonder if Zoey was never going to back to Oklahoma but I am glad that she did. This book is filled with sads though. I am going to miss Jack. I think him and Damien are my favorites.

I am really looking forward to find out what happens in the next book.

My thoughts on the book.

It is a really good book. I dont like the ending to it. Why would you kill of the hero? I just dont get that. I am going to be truthfully here I was told that I would be surprised how it ends and I am surprised. The whole time I was reading it I was like she is going to kill off Four but nope she doesnt. I am really surprised that she killed off Tris. I was not expecting that at all. In someways I wish she had killed off Four but no she didnt. Even though the author killed of the Hero of the story it is still a very good book to read. As it took me a day to get it read.

Happy reading.
